Let us give a big thumb up to the 12 months we have wasted and to the upcoming 12 months we are going to waste in a more creative manner!

As we are only 1 day away from New Year, most of us have already done an introspective on how we have spent 2018.

TBH, although I feel that the year flew by in just a blink of the eye, 2018 has been a year full of new challenges and lessons. Of course, those lessons are beautiful gifts that do not necessarily come in beautiful gift wraps but will be of use in the long run. So, I thought, why not share some of them with you all beautiful people!
  1. No matter what happen in life, family always comes first. They are the only people who will truly support you all the times. And also, one thing we have to remember is that family is not always about the blood relations and there is no such thing as the perfect family. There will be moments of joy, moments of sorrows, misunderstandings, arguments, conflicts, forgiveness, love, fun, .... but at the end of the day, that's what family is about.
  2. Not everybody who is friendly with you, is your well-wisher. I have seen people who flip in no time once they obtain what they needed from you. Some people are manipulative and full of deceit. I realized that I should never ignore that little inner voice's warning because our instincts will never be wrong. Some people will give you trust issues but all we need is that small circle of close people on whom we can rely 100%. I am glad and grateful for the family and good friends I have.
  3. People will judge you no matter what you do in life. When I used to be heavier, I was being told that I should lose weight; now that I am working on myself towards a better self, I am constantly being judged for being too health conscious and "too thin". You can choose ignore it, but sometimes, it can get on your nerves. My mom always reminds me that people are not here to decide what you should do in your life. Your decisions, your choices, none of their business. Do not let people's judgement get at you. Of course, it's normal to be shaken up at first, but then, at the end of the day, you are the one to decide who runs your life- You or Their Opinions on how to live your life.

  4. Just because some people earn more than you do, it does not mean that they deserve to be more respected than you. It also does not mean that they are better than you, as a person. Your attitude towards others defines who you are and determines whether you deserve to be respected. I really appreciate those people who always greet you with a smile. They brighten my day. A smile does not cost you anything. Money is not everything.
  5. Life is short and unpredictable. Don't hold grudges for too long. One fine Sunday morning, I received the sad news that a colleague who shared the same office space as I, passed away. It was a shock for me as that person always shared his "joie-de-vivre", positive thinking, fitness tips with his surrounding till the end. I believe that his sudden demise taught all the people who knew him, the value of always being kind, helpful and positive towards others while we are still here. You never know what's waiting for us~ so, be kind, be polite, be helpful without letting others trample on you.
  6. At the beginning of the year, I had set up realistic resolutions, some of which I have successfully achieved and some of which I have failed miserably. So, I am more than motivated to set new goals to achieve next year. It's always about taking one small step at a time, because any progress is progress.

At every end of year, we emerge being a new person with new goals and dreams. And as we enter the New year, we prepare ourselves for a whole new set of challenges that will test us at every level, push our limits a little bit further than the previous year. But what we should not forget is that the New Year will also bring happiness, love, laughter and a whole new level of excitement. A positive attitude will get you through any situation.

On this note, I wish you all HAPPY NEW YEAR! I hope that you all get unlimited reasons to celebrate each and every day as you discover new joys at every step of your life.

Till the next post,

Heyyyyy there beautiful people!!!

First of all, let me inform you (in case, you are not already aware of it) that Chelsea's Cup N Cake is now open in Vacoas!!! YESSS, you have read it right!!! It is now open in Vacoas, at Sonah Lane next to A1 building- yeah, that same building where Le Printemps is found, since beginning of this month!! I only learnt it 2 weeks ago-when I was taken there by none other than my Bae <3 (awww!! It was very sweet of him) So, I am thankful to him for making me discovering it!!

We were actually planning for quite sometimes to head to the one located in Curepipe but due to lack of time, we were unable to do so! But this one in Vacoas, is a blessing for me! Like literally!!! When Bae first took me there one afternoon after a hectic day at work, I was OVERJOYED because it was soooo unexpected! He knows how much I love fancy places! And I was so so so happy about it that I forgot why I was taken there!

The Place!
It is soooo instagrammy peeps!! This is the best description I can give when I love a place! If it's Instagram worthy, then you know it's the place-to-be!

Let's talk about the deco! The vines and flowers are what captured my attention the moment I saw it! We have the decorative bicycle outside with colourful flower arrangements against the white colour of the bicycle frame! Even when we peek through the window, we can see how carefully each of the flowers have been arranged to create this delightful sight! At first, you can mistake this place for a florist's place, except that it's not one! Everything looks so fresh and elegant and it is well complimented by the delicious smell of baked pastries and cakes! As I said before, I am attracted to fancy places- this one is no exception! I love this place already! Themed-wise, it won my heart! This is my Coup de Coeur for this month!!!

While I was going all "oohhhh" and "aaahhhh" just by looking around, Bae and I were warmly welcome by a sweet lady. Most of the pastries and sweets were almost over since we went there at 5pm. And I was still having difficulty to choose something for myself because of the yummy options that were in front of me. The sweet lady gave us details of each and every sweets and pastries showcased which I really appreciated! And who would not?! People, this is what I call Customer Service on fleek! One, because she is there helping you out with to take a decision; Two, she is actually explaining to you what are the main ingredients of each and everything; Three, because she is very polite! I love these kind of people, who always have a smile on their face when greeting you and welcoming you in! (I can be kidnapped this way!!)

So, amongst the yummy food proposals were:  Mini Black Forests cakes, Passion Fruit Cheesecake (it is vegetarian, btw), Chocolate Butterscotch Brownies, Scones, Religieuse, Tarts,.....I am stopping the list here because it's making me hungry!

I opted for a Quiche au Poulet (I love Quiche Au Poulet, in general) and after a few hesitations between Butterscotch and Religieuse, Bae chose the Religieuse (with Lindt Chocolate and Pistachio filling)!! And I assume that it was really delicious because he refused to share it with me and kept saying "li mari bon" after every bite. Tbh, I trust his words! As for my Quiche au Poulet, this is the best so far! I have eaten Quiche at several places but this one is simply wonderful because there were pieces of pineapples inside! And pineapples just make everything better!!Hehe! I loved the crumbly texture of the tart itself and the well-cooked filling! And also, I want to add that the takeaway boxes are really cute!

My Say About this Place

Vacoas needed a Chelsea's Cup N Cake and now it has one!!! It adds on a refreshing touch to this part of the town! Food-wise, I am going to say that the presentation is very neat and appealing. The showcasing of the cakes itself, look sooooooo attractive- it makes me wanna cheat my diet more than just once a week!! The location also is very strategic- There is Le Printemps nearby, a Hardware Store on the opposite, schools in the surrounding area, bus station, ... it is accessible and easy to locate! Customer-Service- Ahhh, they won my heart!!! I love them! If they keep up with the standard, they are going to win more hearts-definitely!!!

So, if you have a sweet tooth and you are craving for sweets, AND you live in the vicinity of Vacoas, just head to Chelsea's Cup N Cake. I would also advise that you check their facebook page, Chelsea's Cup N Cake to take a look at the photos and drool over the yummy food! And before I forget, you can pre-order birthday cakes, engagement cakes, anniversaries...as well! You can thank me later! *wink wink*

With lots love!
Till my next post,

One of my favourite places to be is obviously the beach. I never get enough of beaches.

I have always been an island girl. Most precisely- A Common Island Girl who loves having sand between her toes on a warm Sunny Day.

The beach has always being part of my life. Being born on a tropical island has proved to be a blessing for me (in that sense!). Do you know what is the best part of it? It is the ability to flaunt about having been to the beach to my family and friends living abroad (I love that sad face they make-niahahahaha! *evil laugh*). In Mauritius, we don't even have to wait for change of season to go to the beach- even if the sun is not shining out at its best, we'll still find our way to the beach. Beach vacations in Mauritius is not considered as a Summer Must-Do; it's a must-do ALL YEAR ROUND and I ain't even kidding about it!!!

Why do I love the beach that much?

It is quite obvious that I love the beach by default of being born in Mauritius, but there is something magical about the seaside here- it never fails to bring a smile to my face. I am not only talking about the aesthetic factors (Of course, it is a plus point), there are much more than what meets the eyes.

Palmar Beach

1.The Family Factor

From childhood till now, going to the beach means "Family Day". YAAAAYYY!!!  Once or Twice every month, my parents, my sister and I- we put aside all our works to go to the beach and to concentrate only on that time that we are going to spend together, leaving behind all our woes. We are like any other Mauritian family after all-The kind of family you see chilling on a Sunday afternoon on the beach...It's our own little escape!
I enjoy the fact that I am able to spend quality time with my loved ones. Actually, the seaside is the perfect family gathering destination.

2.Revitalizing your soul

La Cambuse Beach-This is my all-time favourite pic
The beach is the best stress-reliever in this world which is why once I reach the beach and after finding my spot where I usually set my stuffs (my beach bag with all my beach essentials and food), I like to go for a long stroll on the beach, bare footed. I love how the sea throws tiny little waves that die at my feet when I am standing on the shore and I love how it surprises me with that one unexpected big wave, drenching me from head to toe. I have read somewhere (I don't remember where) that walking barefoot on the sand stimulates the nerves ending in our soles which is good for us. The sounds of the crashing waves have an extremely calming effect on me-it makes me forget all the stress encountered during the week. No wonder why we associate words like "Relaxing", "Revitalising", "Rejuvenating" and "Calming" with the beach.

3.You choose your own beach life

At the beach, nobody judges you- Well, that depends on what you are doing! If you are throwing your empty cans, plastic bags around, then I will be the first one to be judging you for your actions!

Back to the main point, so the beach is actually the only place where I can actually opt for doing nothing. How cool is that! Like I can sit for 5 hours, staring at the sea and it won't be even counted as being lazy or procrastinating.
Or, I can also choose to be super active. There is a whole lot of activities to choose from- Swimming, Diving, Football, Kayaking, Snorkeling, Building sand castles(Bring out the hidden "Bob, the Builder" in you), amongst many others. I personally love walking on the sand, making imprints of my foot by pressing hard every time I am taking a step. Then when the waves wash it away, I run back to make even more of them. Sounds childish, but that's what the beach do- it brings out the child in you. "Adulting" is hard, anyway! Just let me be a kid!

Basically, the beach is a place for all age groups and a fun place to be at.

4.The Aesthetic Factor

The blue sky, the endless pool of crystal blue water or the orange colour of the sun setting and the changing colours of the water is a delightful sight for the eyes. I also love sunsets- the constant change in colours is like some add-on visual effects of an amazing show of the nature that you don't have to pay to enjoy it. I feel so grateful to life every time I am watching one.
And with the perfect natural lighting at any time of the day, whether at sunrise or sunsets or midday, and a great natural backdrop with you posing in the foreground-"so instagrammy, right?!"  You are guaranteed to have the best photos. My own Instagram page is full of beach photos. Being such a poser, you can imagine how much I love going to the beach just to get all those Instagrammy photos. I do not need to say a lot about this, let the photos speak for themselves.
Riambel Beach
5.Food

One of my favourite parts of going to spend a whole day by the beach is the food preparation. My mom and I are always hustling in the kitchen, cooking and packing stuffs to eat and even the food we are not going to eat but taking it along, just in case, we will feel like eating it because you never know when your mood can change. One sad fact about me is that I am not much into seafood. Despite the availability of all the fresh seafoods in the restaurants near the beach, I practically never consume them. Never-mind, I am saving them for you people out there.

But I always look forward for the fruit salads- "confit" and the ice cream vans. I actually choose to buy my ice-creams from the better looking vans. And I sometimes I regret my choice. Why? Because the ice-cream does not meet my expectations and tastes like butter. Uughh... Atleast I get to learn that I should not trust the appearance of the vans, same theory applies for humans! Better looking, doesn't always mean better quality!
But otherwise, even if you are not bringing food from home for a picnic, you can always get food from the restaurants by the beach, or if you are into street foods, then you are not going to die of starvation!

6.Escape from the Routine

Gris-Gris Beach
I think that this is the purpose of being at the beach- to escape the sad reality of being closed within the 4 walls of an office- although, I do have an amazing view from my workplace, it still does not give me the same peace of mind that I get from the beach. Tbh, I am the kind of person who really gets excited when the weekend is here because I know that if the weather is fine, I will be chilling at the beach. Basically, I like to move away from the busy lifestyle, run away from all the responsibilities just to be able to shake everything off and be with myself. The beach is like my therapy. I love everything about it. And I don't even get bored of the view- the sea is sooooo fascinating. It is so full of life and it is constantly in motion. So fascinating!!

Taking a good swim in the sea and floating in the salty water for a while, is good. In winter, I am a bit reluctant to the idea of jumping and splashing in the water. But in Summer, I won't think twice. Plus I secretly believe that I am a mermaid! Or maybe was! I was a mermaid who dislikes freezing cold water! You never know!

Blue Bay Beach
So, basically I have tried to summarise my feelings and the beauty of the beach. The beach is actually that one place where humans and nature are in perfect harmony. And yes, I am always in for beach plans(only if my mom says yessss). I really hope that you have enjoyed this post. Do not hesitate to drop me some comments about how you feel about the beach or if you have any funny stories to share- Feel free to leave it in the comment section. You are most welcome to do so.

Till my next post,

If you are looking for a nice, cosy place to have lunch in the bustling city of Port Louis, then Café de La Presse is the place to be.

I love this place <3

This photo was taken on the first time I went there in 2017
Café de la Presse won my heart the very first time I stepped in there. It is located on the first floor of an old building in the bustling street of La Chaussée. I immediately fell in love with the modern, industrialist decor and the positive atmosphere. The table settings are just perfect, in the sense that there are a lot of free space to move around. In simple words, I would say "This place is so instagrammy". And it even got a couch with a nice background, where you can read magazines or newspapers while waiting for your table to be ready. Psst.. you even have access to Wi-Fi, in case you are there for some work purposes!!

With an amazingly friendly and very welcoming staff, the service offered is one of the best. I believe that the positive attitude of the staff contributes a lot to the smooth running of this place.

The Food ordered by my friends and I
Now let's talk about the most important thing: THE MENU.
The menu is a minimalist one and well designed. I have been there several times and most of the time, I ordered the Chicken Teriyaki Wrap with salad and fries. I am that kind of person, who would go through a menu 5 times to end up ordering the the usual thing. But what I like is that the menu also consists of veg dishes which I have tried and loved it. The food presentation is, by the way, very neat and "very instagrammy". No wonder why before eating, I feel the need to take out my phone and take a few snaps to post them with a bunch of food related hashtags. Typical of me!!

Chicken Teriyaki Wrap with Fries and Salad

So, not only does the food look good, it also tastes good. As for the drinks, I often opt for the ice teas or the flavoured virgin mojito. So far, my favourite is the Blueberry flavoured virgin mojito.

Mason Jars make it look even better!

Price wise, it is not at all expensive plus value for money. All the food in the menu is affordable. And guess what! If you are in group but you have to pay your share- they split the bill for you- which makes things much easier. One minor hitch is that they don't bring you the bill to your table. Personally, I don't mind walking to the counter to settle my bill because it gives me the opportunity to take a look at the yummy yummy desserts on display. Think about that yummy Red Velvet cake...So mouth-watering!!

So if you are heading to Café de la Presse, don't forget to make your reservations if you don't want to wait for too long to be allocated a table. And if you know what you want for lunch, you can order beforehand. This will definitely save you some time.

To conclude, I would say, Café de la Presse is highly recommendable. It has always lived up to my expectations and getting better every time I go there. Most of the time, I have been there with friends and colleagues and I have always had a great time.

So basically, if you are inviting me for lunch and it's at Café de La Presse, I'M DEFINITELY COMING!! It is open during the weekdays and sometimes on Saturdays- check out its Facebook page Café de La Presse . And for reservations, call on the 212 85 90 and then you head to 5, rue la chaussee, Port Louis.

Have a nice time!

Café de La Presse

by on Wednesday, April 18, 2018
If you are looking for a nice, cosy place to have lunch in the bustling city of Port Louis, then Café de La Presse is the place to be.  ...
For those who are not aware of it, there is a Delibake Cafe and Bakery in Port Louis. It is located at the Paille-en Queue Court's ground floor, which most of us, Mauritians, call, the Air Mauritius Building. But I am sure that most of you know it and have already grabbed a bite there. And YOU SHOULD!

To be honest, I am usually very fussy about pastries and cakes. A colleague of mine recommended me Delibake. So, I gave it a try and I walked into the place which I found to be chic and neat, just like, I like it. The staff are friendly and customer service is up to the mark. And then, the most important part of it, is the wide selection of pastries and cakes that will only leave you mouth-watering and confused about what to get and what-not-to-get. They are so cute and so beautifully designed that they are a delight to the eyes. Personally, my favourite is the Napolitaine. Just yummy. I, thoroughly, enjoyed every bite of it.

So, if you are craving for some yummy yummy doughnuts, cheesecake, red velvets, choco tarts, croissants, even macaroons, etc etc...then you know where to head.

So, if you are planning to catch up with long last friends in Port Louis, you can head up there for coffee and cakes or lunch. And even, when you just feel like indulging in some yummy cakes for no-reason. Actually, you don't need any special reason to treat yourself.

After all, it is the sweet simple things in life that are the real ones. So, now you know the address!

Enjoy!!
