Life lessons I am carrying with me into 2019

Let us give a big thumb up to the 12 months we have wasted and to the upcoming 12 months we are going to waste in a more creative manner! As we are only 1 day away from New Year, most of us have already done an introspective on how we have spent 2018 . TBH, although I feel that the year flew by in just a blink of the eye, 2018 has been a year full of new challenges and lessons. Of course, those lessons are beautiful gifts that do not necessarily come in beautiful gift wraps but will be of use in the long run . So, I thought, why not share some of them with you all beautiful people !  No matter what happen in life, family always comes first. They are the only people who will truly support you all the times. And also, one thing we have to remember is that family is not always about the blood relations and there is no such thing as the perfect family. There will be moments of joy, moments of sorrows, misunderstandings, arguments, conflicts, forgiveness, love, fun, ......

Down the lane of memories...thro' a Re-union

"Recall it as often as you wish, a happy memory never wears out" - Libbie Fudim Memories of my childhood days still linger in a corner of my mind as I remember all my friends and the way I used to interact with them, all the fun, mischief we have been up-to during those days! But gone are these days! They are now, what seem to be some distant memories like some old stories buried amidst the various chapters of the book that we call life ... As years go by, I see the increasing distance between my childhood memories and I as new ones are making their way into my mind! At every phase of life, I have met new people who each has had a role to play in determining who I am today and who I have always meant to be. And amongst those people, feature those childhood friends whom I have last seen when I was in Standard 6(Grade 6, as we now call it). That's 15 years ago! I had lost contacts with almost every one of them- until we found each other on the social network we...

My Coup de Coeur- Chelsea's Cup N Cake

Heyyyyy there beautiful people!!! First of all, let me inform you (in case, you are not already aware of it) that Chelsea's Cup N Cake  is now open in Vacoas!!! YESSS, you have read it right!!!  It is now open in Vacoas, at Sonah Lane next to A1 building- yeah, that same building where Le Printemps is found, since beginning of this month!! I only learnt it 2 weeks ago-when I was taken there by none other than my Bae <3 (awww!! It was very sweet of him) So, I am thankful to him for making me discovering it!!  We were actually planning for quite sometimes to head to the one located in Curepipe but due to lack of time, we were unable to do so! But this one in Vacoas, is a blessing for me! Like literally!!! When Bae first took me there one afternoon after a hectic day at work, I was OVERJOYED because it was soooo unexpected! He knows how much I love fancy places! And I was so so so happy about it that I forgot why I was taken there!  The Place! I...

Lunch at The Log Café

If you are going in the direction of China Town in Port Louis, head to 32, Dr Joseph Rivière Street where there is found a small and cozy coffee shop called The Log Café . How did I discover The Log  Café ? Not so long ago, during the festive period of December, my friend, Kamilah and I went out for shopping when we both spotted this interestingly attractive looking coffee shop. Since we were then both in a hurry to reach our respective offices as we were running out of time, we promised each other that our next meeting would definitely be The Log  Café . But in between came our mundane activities that kept us postponing our lunch plan, until we recently made it a must to catch up.  The D-Day We were warmly welcome as we passed through the door.  Tbh , friendly staff and owners always make everything better. So, my first impression of The Log  Café  was: " ooouuuhhh , so  instagrammy ! "  Instagrammy  forms part of ...

The Beach is my Therapy...

One of my favourite places to be is obviously the beach. I never get enough of beaches.  I have always been an island girl. Most precisely- A Common Island Girl who loves having sand between her toes on a warm Sunny Day.  The beach has always being part of my life. Being born on a tropical island has proved to be a blessing for me (in that sense!). Do you know what is the best part of it? It is the ability to flaunt about having been to the beach to my family and friends living abroad (I love that sad face they make-niahahahaha! *evil laugh*). In Mauritius, we don't even have to wait for change of season to go to the beach- even if the sun is not shining out at its best, we'll still find our way to the beach. Beach vacations in Mauritius is not considered as a Summer Must-Do; it's a must-do ALL YEAR ROUND  and I ain't even kidding about it!!! Why do I love the beach that much? It is quite obvious that I love the beach by default of being born in Mauriti...

Café de La Presse

If you are looking for a nice, cosy place to have lunch in the bustling city of Port Louis, then Café de La Presse is the place to be.  I love this place <3 This photo was taken on the first time I went there in 2017 Café de la Presse won my heart the very first time I stepped in there. It is located on the first floor of an old building in the bustling street of La Chaussée.  I immediately fell in love with the modern, industrialist decor and the positive atmosphere. The table settings are just perfect, in the sense that there are a lot of free space to move around. In simple words, I would say " This place is so instagrammy" . And it even got a couch with a nice background, where you can read magazines or newspapers while waiting for your table to be ready. Psst.. you even have access to Wi-Fi, in case you are there for some work purposes!!  With an amazingly friendly and very welcoming staff, the service offered is one of the best. I believe th...

My coup de coeur-Delibake: Cafe and Bakery

For those who are not aware of it, there is a Delibake Cafe and Bakery in Port Louis. It is located at the Paille-en Queue Court's ground floor, which most of us, Mauritians, call, the Air Mauritius Building. But I am sure that most of you know it and have already grabbed a bite there. And YOU SHOULD!  To be honest, I am usually very fussy about pastries and cakes. A colleague of mine recommended me Delibake . So, I gave it a try and I walked into the place which I found to be chic and neat, just like, I like it. The staff are friendly and customer service is up to the mark. And then, the most important part of it, is the wide selection of pastries and cakes that will only leave you mouth-watering and confused about what to get and what-not-to-get. They are so cute and so beautifully designed that they are a delight to the eyes. Personally, my favourite is the Napolitaine. Just yummy. I, thoroughly, enjoyed every bite of it.  So, if you are craving for some yumm...
