Hello my beautiful people!
Christmas is only a few days away...almost like 2 days away. It's the most wonderful time of the year, isn't it? So I thought why not make a come-back on my blog with a christmassy post. It's been really long since I last wrote. Oh, almost a year ago. If I could win an award for procrastination, I would have put it off for some other day.
BUT RIGHT NOW, I am not being a procrastinator. I am determined. I am in a very christmassy mood and I am here to radiate positive and festive vibes. So let's get into the Spirit of the Season.
I love Christmas. Actually I love December in general because we are encouraged to be generous, to be beaming with joy, kind, and forgiving. Noticed how I have put the word forgiving in italic. Yeah, because some people enjoy holding grudges. And this is such a sad thing, you know. Life is too short to hold grudges. You learn your lesson; you move on and you enjoy the festive season. Don't be a Grinch.
I believe that this period of the year is magical, in the sense that you think of all your family and friends, the longing to buy more presents than we do during the rest of the year. Wherever you go, you see all the places wrapped up in the christmassy spirit with all the gorgeous decorations being hung, in different shapes and forms and thousands of fairy lights. There is no way that you can resist it.
When it comes to gift ideas, I am probably running out of them now. But that doesn't mean I ain't walking around all the streets of Port Louis, and Malls. Shopping is really my cardio, in case you wanted to know my workout regimen. I find it very challenging to actually find something for each and everyone and to make them all happy. There is always this faint little incertitude of whether I bought the correct thing, whether the person is really satisfied or not. Since it is Christmas, we are supposed to make people's hearts melt with joy and not with disappointment.
But if you are in need of some ideas to kickstart your shopping (it's still not too late), so here's my personal go-to gift ideas:
That's like the easiest list ever. BUT...it's still vague and you still have to take care certain factors into consideration such as the age of the person, their personal preferences, whether they already own the same thing you intend to gift them, the relationship you share with them, as well as your budget. I once saw a post of Facebook which was as follows: Don't go broke Christmas shopping while trying to show people how much you love them. And tbh, I couldn't agree more with that sentence. Spend wisely, peeps (This advice sounds so wrong, coming from someone who absolutely has no self-control when it comes to unnecessary spending. But I'll work on that. Soon. Maybe. We'll talk about that later!)
Another great thing about this Festive period is- all the parties and get-together organised: whether at work, at home, with family or friends. It's like that big reward for having worked so hard for the past 11 and a half months. Going to work during this period to actually work, makes me kinda heartsick during this period, but then, the downside of not going to work, is house chores. Ugh.. Adulting is so hard. But okay, we just gotta keep on going with a wide smile, right?
Also, while we all are busy with our little things going on, I appreciate all those taking the initiative to make sure that no one is left without a smile during this Festive period. Since the whole Christmas Spirit is about kindness, giving and sharing, I believe that enforcing this code of the spirit through acts of generosity and kindness, only spread more joy and magic in the air. And we should not limit ourselves to only our family and friends, because everyone deserves to be part of the magic. If we have the capacity to help out, then we should absolutely step forward to do so. On this note, I wish you all a Merry Christmas and I promise to be more regular with my posts.
